Posture

Most people associate posture with the position in which they are sitting or standing. We have all had someone say sit up straight, stop slouching, shoulders back! These are common phrases that you will hear related to posture. While these verbal corrections are helpful, a true understanding of the complex postural system in your body, and the exercises needed to reinforce that new knowledge, would be a greater benefit. Your body cannot be in the proper position if the muscles that maintain that position fail. The accommodation or adaptation to weakness is to recruit other muscles to do the job instead.
